What Are Some Other Herbal Remedies for Tinea Versicolor?

Well, tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus overgrowing- so you would need to chose things that were fungus un-friendly. Oil and oil based products applied to the skin would be the last thing that you would want to do- oil actually can encourage even more growth. It's not a true infection, it's an overgrowth of yeast, more or less. But it's not living off excess sugar in your skin, you just don't exude glucose in your sweat. I know you specified herbal supplements, and you said dandruff shampoo made your skin dry out- but have you tried Lotrimin cream or Selsun Blue? Also, you want to wear strictly natural fiber clothing- cotton, wool, linen, that sort of thing. Absolutely no man made fibers at all. You also will want to wash your clothing with either bleach or an oxygen bleach to kill yeast spores in the fibers of cloth, and then bake them dry. And one last thing I thought about, you know the skin will take a month or more to return to a normal coloration after you have actually cured it? The light/dark patches have to be replaced by healthy, undamaged skin cells, and that process takes at least 21 days. So your treatments could be working, and you just haven't seen new skin yet. But honestly, if you have been trying all the over the counter aids, it may be time to consider taking an oral medication to get the upper hand on this. Sometimes you need to break the cycle and give the body a chance to regroup. If your tinea got really entrenched before you started treating it, it may just be too extensive for the usual remedies to help. Just a thought for consideration. Once you had it under control, then your remedies might have a better chance of keeping it away.
