Do You Expect Your Kids To Do The Same?
Growing up, I was expected to do a few things, as I am doing for my kids. Basic stuff: Holding doors open for the elderly, giving your seat on the bus to elders, pregnant women, and the injured, and picking up something for another person, like a baby's pacifier. And that also meant calling other adults by Mr., Mrs., Miss (last name) or referring to adults as sir or ma'am when you don't know their name. Also not being reminded to shake the hand of a person you just meet and introducing yourself. And also not using certain language, standing up straight (it just annoys me when people slouch), and my favorite, dressing modestly. Of course, all of these things and more create ladies and gentlemen for tomorrow, but my question is how often do you see older kids and teenagers doing these things today?
