How to get rid of methanol when distilling?

I'm very interested in knowing how to make spirits. I just want to make sure I won't go blind or die. I'm not completely sure when methanol evaporates but I think it's 150F degrees. I wonder, if I let the mash temp stay a little above that for a few hours then threw away whatever liquid was there and then heated the mash to 175F(boiling point of ethenol, I think) would the spirit be safe to drink?
